Short vertical video is judged in the first second. Three fixes — light on your face, a locked frame, and clean audio — separate a video people watch from one they scroll past.
Face the light, don't fight it
Shoot with a window in front of you, never behind. Where there is no window, one small panel at arm's length above the phone does the same job and keeps working after dark.
Stop holding the phone
A locked frame lets you use your hands, step back to show your whole body, and shoot the same setup twice. Everything you can do with a stand looks deliberate; everything handheld looks like a first take.
Get out of the room
Phone microphones record the room, not you. A clip-on mic records only your voice, which is why creators with the same phone sound completely different.

Common questions
What should I buy first if I can only buy one thing?
A light. Poor light is the most visible problem on a phone camera and the hardest to fix in editing. The U160 Pro is the usual answer; the U80 Pro if budget is tighter.
Do I need a gimbal for reels?
Only if you walk while filming. If your shots are static or you shoot from a stand, a tripod does more for your footage at a fraction of the price.
Will a selfie stick be enough instead of a tripod?
Yes for most reels. The K9 Pro and P9 fold into a standing tripod and include a light, which covers framing and lighting in one purchase.
